dutch bakery.

we just had lunch at one of our favorite spots in downtown victoria, the dutch bakery. aside from the kids accompanying their parents or grandparents... we are always the youngest people there. it's always packed with elderly people having brunch, lunch or their 4pm dinner, and have likely been doing so for many many years. it's that kind of place, a family owned and operated business built on principals of good food! somewhere that you would bring your parents and/or kids to to have a coffee, a bowl of soup, an egg-salad sandwich, a hamburger and milkshake, and a delicious treat.

whenever we're both in victoria we're sure to stop by and have our favorites.

hearty homemade soup with noodles, meatballs, rice, carrots, celery, onions... delicious starter!
i think this is the best burger ever. classic processed cheese, tomato, shredded iceburg lettuce, sliced pickle, mustard, ketchup and their amazing mayo.
my favorite treat is their fruit-custard tart.
alison's fav is the vanilla slice. we read that they've made over 1.9 million of them over the years!
if you ever get the chance to go to the dutch bakery on fort street... don't hesitate!
